Movie Night Pajamas SewAlong: Day 7 – Match Your Pets
SEW ALONG OUTLINE
It’s Day 7 and the final day of the sew along! If you haven’t already entered your finished PJs in the giveaway, make sure you do so here! If you are just tuning in or if you are behind, don’t worry, it’s a catch up day! You have until 11.59pm MST to get in those entries.
In addition to it being a catch up day….we are talking all thing pets! Did you know your fur baby can get a pair of pjs too?! And you can match! Pet pajamas can be found here. The hardest part about the pet pajamas is the grading. Most dogs and cats probably will not fall perfectly in one size. The easiest thing to do, is after you measure your pet, use the layers tool to select and only print the sizes that your pet falls under. This will make grading a lot easier. For adding length, still print the size for back length. Once you grade the rest and your pet’s back length is longer or shorter than the waist size, measure how long the back length size is and cut and slash your pattern piece to match the length of the pattern piece per the pattern instructions, trimming any uneven edges if necessary. (I didn’t add or take away any length for my dog or kitty, so i didn’t do that in the video. If you have any questions, just ask!) I’m probably going to shorten my kitty’s pjs. Cat’s (at least my kitty) don’t like material on their pooch, so i think shorter is always better for a cat.
Once your pattern in graded, sewing it up is pretty straight forward. If you are adding sleeves, you will attach them just like we did for the other pajamas, sewing up the shoulders, matching the center of the sleeve to the center of the sleeve to the shoulder seam. Once you sew the sleeve on, you will sew up the side seam and sleeve in one go and then attach the sleeve cuff to the sleeve. Be careful, those cuffs can be pretty little like the toddler pajamas!
