Made for Mermaids – Youth Gables
Tiny things are so stinking cute! Made for Mermaids recently released the Youth Gables in addition to a re-release of the Men’s version with expanded sizes (up to 6x!) and I seriously love them! (Check out the bundle here)
The pattern comes in 3 different leg lengths (pictured is the short length) and has a solid front as well as a functional fly front. My son is thin, so finding undies that fit him well is always tricky. I’ve also sewed up a few different boxer brief patterns and this one fits my son by far the best.
I sewed up a size 1 with a size 1/2 for the waistband. The only thing I did differently was left out the elastic in the waistband. The elastic length is too snug for my son (not sure if it’s the type of elastic I’m using) but the waistband in CL works perfect as is.
This is such a quick sew too, especially if you are doing the solid front. Two quick sews for the front, add the waistband, hem and your done! Boom. The fabric I used for these is CLUB Cotton Jersey from Raspberry Creek Fabrics (both prints are now retired) and Summer Treats from The Fabric Snob.
My little man will definitely have a few handfuls of these in his closet soon enough!
