Joggerathon – Made for Mermaids – Lexi Loungers

Hello and welcome to day 2 of the Joggerathon! Next up for Slim fit is the Lexi Loungers from Made for Mermaids.

One special feature that the Lexi’s have is the two different fits included in the pattern; joggers and pants (a looser fit with a slightly flared leg). The Lexi’s have 2 lengths for shorts with a 4″ and 5″ inseam, pants with a flared leg and joggers with 2 inseam lengths for each: 31″ or 33″. There are 2 pockets included that can be added to any length, patch pockets (with or without binding) and slat pockets. *You can see all the options in the image below.

*The Joggerathon is going on ALL month long. If you’d like to see the pattern lineup and get more information, click here! Don’t forget to vote for your favorite!

Price: $9.00

Size Range: 9 sizes // grey-red // 33″-54″ hip

Options Sewn:

  • Pink graded out to purple at the calfs and down to grey at the ankle. My mid thigh measures grey but I cheated slightly and just stuck with pink. I also shortened the length of the joggers by 1/2″ based on the instructions (1/2″ add/removed for every 1″ above/below 5’5). The smallest inseam length is 31″ and mine is 28″. I’m glad I didn’t shorten them based on inseam or they would probably be too short.
  • I sewed the patch pocket but I went a little rogue and made the patch on the inside. #sorrynotsorry

My Measurements:

  • Waist – 27
  • High Hip – 31
  • Hip – 36
  • Upper Thigh – 21
  • Inseam – 28
  • Height – 5’4

Fabric

The fabric I used for this pair is the Oatmeal Striped Interlock from The Fabric Snob. It’s a 92/8 Cotton Spandex blend with 100% horizontal and 50% vertical stretch. It’s a great thickness at 260GSM and is approx. 68″ wide.

Recommended Fabric: Light to medium weight knit with at least 30% stretch. Waistband and cuffs should be at least 50% stretch

Instructions

Were the instructions easy to follow?

  • Super easy to follow and the images in the instructions are real life photos. I don’t think I’ve ever have issues with the M4M instructions.
  • Since I cut with my projector, it was a little inconvenient that the bands are only on a cut chart. I would have preferred that they were included on the actual file.

Pattern

DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?

After looking through the listing photos, yes! They look like the listing photos.

WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?

  • The legs have a little more room than I prefer, though I didn’t grade my mid-thighs down. I don’t feel like it would have made that big of a difference if I did though.
  • The binding on the pocket is fun and makes it just a little bit easier when it comes to stripe matching! This fabric is probably a little too thick for binding though.
  • I really like the rise on this pair
  • The legs are a little long, so I would probably shorten them again the next go around. The pattern says to shorten/lengthen 1/2″ for every 1 inch above/below 5’5, so I removed 1/2″. However, my inseam is 28″ and the shorter length is 31″. If I would have shortened 3″, that would have been way too much but the 1/2″ just doesn’t quite seem enough.

WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?

I think I would sew these again. I would probably sew a straight pink since the calves are too loose grading out to purple. Or maybe I’ll try grading the legs down to grey since my mid thigh measurement falls under grey (and I don’t mind a more fitted jogger). Maybe one of these days I’ll also try the other pants version too.

I would recommend this to others. M4M is also working on expanding their size chart, so I would guess that this pattern eventually will include the new sizes. I probably wouldn’t consider these slim but they are a great middle of the road (in terms of fit) joggers.

Have you sewed up the Lexi Loungers? What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below! If you missed yesterday’s post for the Good Vibe Joggers from Ellie and Mac, click here. Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to read about the Loggers from Patterns for Pirates!

Cheers!
