Joggerathon – Ellie and Mac – Good Vibe Joggers
Hello and welcome to the first official day of the Joggerathon! I am so glad you are joining me this month! For the next 7 days, we will be going through the different Slim Fit joggers, based on pattern descriptions and the first one up is the Good Vibe Joggers from Ellie and Mac.
The Good Vibe Joggers have 3 leg lengths, shorts, capri and ankle, 2 rise options (low and high), 2 waistband options (yoga and elastic) with an optional drawstring. There only is 1 pocket option and that is a zipper welt pocket. They are considered a slim fit but you can size the leg pieces up one for a relaxed fit.

- Hip – 36
- Upper Thigh – 21
- Inseam – 28
- Height – 5’4
Fabric
I used Lush Double Brushed Interlock from The Fabric Snob in the Mirage color way. This fabric is nice! It’s on the thicker side but the stretch is great. The recovery is good but it is not ideal to use on a waistband without elastic. It’s a 95/5 cotton spandex interlock knit, approximately 240gsm and 68-70″ wide. It has 75-100% horizontal and 25-50% vertical stretch (depending on the color).
Recommended Fabric:
- For Slim Fit, 50% four way stretch fabric
- For Relaxed Fit, 25% – 50% two-four way stretch fabric is recommended. Size up the pattern but use your measured size for cuffs and bands.
Instructions
Were the instructions easy to follow?
- I had no major issues with the instructions
- Not necessarily instructions but the way the pattern is laid out on the pattern file, it’s a little hard to grade to a smaller/larger waist than hip. (Most of the change in hip per size is at the crotch seam rather than the side seam)
- I don’t like that the main instructions only lists the Bust, Waist and Hip measurements on the size chart but includes the thigh and calf measurements on the actual pattern file. If you are like me, I look at the size chart and pick my size from there. I didn’t even think about looking on the actual pattern file for MORE measurements. The actual instructions should include the other 2 measurements on the size chart IMO. If I printed my pattern based on the size chart on the instructions and only select the layer sizes I needed, I would be super annoyed if I should have printed more sizes if my thigh and calves fell in a different size than what I printed.
- If you look at the size chart, the ranges per size spans between 1″ and 4″
Pattern
DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?
For the most part, yes but I have a ton of excess fabric at the top of the side seam. I could easily pinch out an inch of fabric there! It could go away somewhat if I pulled the side of the waistband up but then the sides would be super high and the front would be low.
WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?
The main thing I don’t like is the excess fabric. From what I can tell, it’s like the side seam just goes up way too high. The back and the front rise are great as is. It’s just at the side seam.
I hate hate hate that the only pocket option is a zippered welt pocket. I hate zipper pockets on pants, which is why I skipped pockets on this pair all together. It would have been nice to have a second pocket option.
Other than the excess fabric, I have no issues with the overall fit.
WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?
I probably would not sew these again. The lack of another pocket option besides the zipper welt pocket is a deal breaker for me. The excess fabric is an easy fix but still really annoying. If I did sew these again, I would have to hack a patch pocket since I’m not sewing a zipper on joggers.
If you could only have one pair of joggers, I would not recommend this pair. However, EAM often has crazy sales, so if you can snag this for less than $3, I say go for it. If you are paying full price and could only pick on pair, I would probably say no.
Have you sewn the Good Vibe Joggers? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know in the comments below! Be sure to come back tomorrow to read about the Lexi Loungers from Made for Mermaids.
Cheers!

I tried them too and had some extra fabric at the back under the waistband. Won’t do them again. ??♀️

I’m glad I’m not alone in that!!

I’m very suspicious of E&M drafting. I bought a few of their patterns and was horrified to find symmetrical front/ back armholes, sleeves cut on fold for a non-T fitted sleeve, and crotch curve with next to no body space. I think they rely on the stretch fabric to do all the work. There are plenty of people who seem happy with their patterns but I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

I’m right there with you. I don’t totally trust the drafting either so I’ll pass even for $1 🙃
