Joggerathon – 5 out of 4 – Diane Joggers

Hello and welcome to week 2 of the Joggerathon! For the next 2 weeks, I will be going through the regular fit joggers, based on the pattern/instruction descriptions. Basically these joggers are not too tight and not too loose. First up this week is the Diane Joggers from 5 out of 4 Patterns. All the fabric I used this week is from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

The Diane Joggers have 3 rise heights (low/maternity, mid and high), 3 inseam lengths (shorts, capri and long), 4 leg finishes (cuffed, hemmed, drawstring or elastic), and 6 waistband options (encased elastic, drawstring, knit, foldover yoga, contour and underbelly maternity)

The fit description on the website says they aren’t so baggy that you could hide another person in them but they aren’t so tight that you fee like they’re leggings. On the size chart page in the instructions, it says they are a slim fit.

Instructions

Were the instructions easy to follow?

  • The instructions were easy to follow.
  • There are lots of pants fitting help included in the instructions.

Pattern

DID IT LOOK LIKE THE PATTERN PHOTO/DRAWING ON THE PATTERN ONCE YOU WERE DONE SEWING?

After looking through the listing photos, yes, they look the same.

WHAT DID YOU PARTICULARLY LIKE OR DISLIKE ABOUT THE PATTERN?

  • When picking a size, it says these are slim fit and mainly on hip, which is true to an extent. These are definitely fitted at the hips but then go to more of a straight leg the rest of the way down.
  • I don’t like how loose these are from the mid thigh – down. I would prefer that they be more fitted all the way down or the hips slightly looser to match the fit of the rest of the pants.
  • I shortened the inseam by 2″ but I probably should have shortened them by 3″
  • I don’t mind the back yoke but I don’t like how skinny it is. I would like it a little bit thicker/taller
  • I don’t totally love the look of the pockets with the facing and topstitching, so I would opt to fold and topstitch the pocket opening instead of the pocket facing. OR just make it a reverse patch pocket with the pocket on the inside rather than on top.

WOULD YOU SEW IT AGAIN? WOULD YOU RECOMMEND IT TO OTHERS?

I personally wouldn’t sew these again. It’s not a bad pattern, it just isn’t my preference in fit.

Have you sewn up the Diane joggers? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know in the comments below! If you missed the slim fit comparison, you can check that out HERE! Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see the Skye Joggers from Blank Slate!

Cheers!

This colour though 😍 Yeah these look a little snug in the hip area and the pockets with the facing like that would offset me in a solid colour, not so much in a print though.

I use this pattern all the time for my teens. I have fit issues with it when I make it for myself but that’s for all bottoms patterns. I think what I love the most are all the options included.
