Petite Stitchery & Co – Harmony Harems

Oh man, I am so behind posting about this! These pants released ages ago! (not really but a month ago feels like forever!)

Petite Stitchery & Co’s new Harmony Harem Pants! I love love love these! There is a slim fit (which is pictured below) and a relaxed fit, which I made, I just didn’t get any pictures. Whoops! I love the slim/skinny fit. The one thing that is hardest with this pattern is the waistband. There’s a very good chance you will have to stretch it to the max for it to fit (similar to the waistband of the yoggers), which I hate doing! So you have a few options if that is not quite working with your band fabric…

1. Add 2 lines of basting stitches around the opening to add some wide gathers to make it a little easier for attaching

2. Make your waistband a little or a lot wider and add elastic to fit your waist. Bam! (I’m going to do this way next to mimic this pinspiration I found. Scroll to the bottom to see.) You will want to use 2in wide elastic and may need to adjust the width of the waistband. If you want to do the look of the band in my pinspiration, you will add a line of stitching 5/8in from the top and then again 1 1/2 inches. Make sure your gathers in the waistband are evenly spread out and pin the waistband in place so it won’t move around. You will sew down the elastic to the band while the stretching the elastic between the pins. (If you’ve made the Hudson Pants by True Bias, it will be done basically JUST like these.)

The only thing that makes me sad about these is that you can’t really use directional fabric. Well, technically you CAN, the legs will just get a little slanted, as you can see below. Which means I will not be using any striped fabric. Sad day, but not the end of the world. Be aware that these are REALLY long. Chances are, you won’t have to take out length in the drop crotch area, but you may have to take some out in the legs, especially if you are going to be using cuffs. Just keep that in mind. I took out length and they were still a little too long for cuffs.

*I highly suggest making a muslin for these, especially if you are going to be doing one of the leg opening options.

These pants pair PERFECTLY with the harem pants from the Bonfire Basics collection (Which you can use directional fabric for!).
